There are also NCERT solutions for class 10 science that are available on these websites, for the students to refer to in case if they get stuck somewhere. In order to help students in their preparation, we are providing life processes class 10 notes here.
Movement is one of the characteristics of all living beings. Various processes like nutrition, respiration, transport of materials within the body and excretion of waste products are required for the maintenance of life. There are two types of nutrition’s:
Autotrophic nutrition: It involves the intake of simple inorganic materials from the environment and synthesis of complex high-energy organic material using an external energy source like the Sun.
Heterotrophic nutrition: It involves the intake of complex material prepared by other organisms. The food taken by human beings is broken down by various steps along the alimentary canal. The e digested food is then absorbed in the small intestine and is transported to all the cells of the body. In the process of respiration, complex organic compounds such as glucose is broken down to provide energy in the form of ATP. ATP provides energy to cells for the reactions occurring inside the cell. There are two types of respiration: Aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration. The transport of materials (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, food etc.) in human beings this process occurs with the help of circulatory system. The circulatory system mainly consists of heart, blood and blood vessels. In plants, transport of water, minerals, food and other materials occur with the help of the vascular tissue. The vascular tissue consists of xylem and phloem. In human beings, excretory products are in the form of soluble nitrogen compounds. They are removed by kidneys. Nephron is the basic filtration unit. In plants there are various techniques by which they excrete waste materials. For example, plants remove excess water by the process of transpiration.
