Autotrophic nutrition: It involves the intake of simple inorganic materials from the environment and synthesis of complex high-energy organic material using an external energy source like the Sun.

Heterotrophic nutrition: It involves the intake of complex material prepared by other organisms. The food taken by human beings is broken down by various steps along the alimentary canal. The e digested food is then absorbed in the small intestine and is transported to all the cells of the body. In the process of respiration, complex organic compounds such as glucose is broken down to provide energy in the form of ATP. ATP provides energy to cells for the reactions occurring inside the cell. There are two types of respiration: Aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration. The transport of materials (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, food etc.) in human beings this process occurs with the help of circulatory system. The circulatory system mainly consists of heart, blood and blood vessels. In plants, transport of water, minerals, food and other materials occur with the help of the vascular tissue. The vascular tissue consists of xylem and phloem. In human beings, excretory products are in the form of soluble nitrogen compounds. They are removed by kidneys. Nephron is the basic filtration unit.
